Alcuni utenti han diffuso questo messaggio, il quale avverte chi lo riceve riguardo la presenza di un virus on the wild (presente, selvaggio, nella rete), il quale sopraggiunge via email, con il soggetto "Bad Times". Questa bufala informa riguardo l'attività di cancellazione del contenuto dell'HD del sistema infetto, anche se presente nelle vicinanze di quest'ultimo (per via aerea, come i virus biologici n.d.PUOj), il quale può anche agire negativamente sul comportamento umano, causare danno alle carte di credito ed ai programmi ATM.
 
Note Aggiuntive: Questa email è un palese scherzo. In primo luogo, un malware che si diffonde via email, con chiare attività di mass-mailing, è un Worm e non un virus. Ciò denota mancata competenza nel distinguere un virus da un worm.
Successivamente, dall'analisi, un malware generico, non può causare problemi di alcuna sorta, a PC non collegati direttamente ad esso, o, comunque, ove non vi sia un minimo scambio di dati. Inoltre, quest'ultimo non può interagire negativamente sullo stato fisico delle persone (non può causare il raffreddore o altre scemenze simili), nè danneggiare, inqualsiasi modo, supporti magnetici non collegati, nè, tantomeno, supporti ottici (Armoniche che creano delle crepe nei CD? E come? Magia?). Quest'email, in definitiva, non è nient'altro che uno scherzo prodotto da qualche utente, il quale non ha fatto altro che sfruttare la disinformazione delle persone, con qualche piccolo espediente di social engineering, oltre che la paura sociale, spesso alquanto diffusa tra gli utilizzatori, inesperti, dei personal computers (Bere birra e tirare lo sciaquone dell'igenico? Un malware?). Da notare, inoltre, che l'attività di un malware, se è particolarmente distruttiva, può compromettere la sopravvivenza di quest'ultimo. In tal caso, un "virus" che cancella ogni cosa che gli sta attorno, non potrebbe diffondersi, se non tramiteun untore, che verrebbe tracciato e scoperto in poco tempo.

If you receive an e-mail entitled "Bad Times," delete it immediately! Do not open it! Apparently this one is pretty nasty. It will not only erase everything on your hard drive, it will also delete anything on disks within 20 feet of your computer.

It demagnetizes the strips on all of your credit cards. It reprograms your ATM access code, screws up the tracking on your VCR, and uses subspace field harmonics to scratch any CDs you attempt to play. It will program your phone auto dial to call only 900 numbers. The virus will mix antifreeze into your fish tank. It will cause your toilet to flush while you are showering. It will drink all of your beer.

For God's sake, are you listening to me?

It will leave dirty underwear on the coffee table when you are expecting company. It will replace your shampoo with Nair and your Nair with Rogaine, all the while dating your current boy- or girlfriend behind your back and billing the hotel rendezvous to your Visa card, which has been wiped clean.

It will cause you to run with scissors and throw things in a way that is only fun till someone loses an eye. It will rewrite your backup files, change all of your active verbs to passive tense, and incorporate undetectable misspellings which will grossly change the interpretations of key sentences.

If the badness message is opened in a Windows 95 or 98 environment, it will leave the toilet seat up and leave your hair dryer plugged in dangerously close to a full bathtub. It will not only remove the forbidden tags from your mattress and pillows, it will also refill your skim milk with whole milk.

Warn as many people as you can! If you don't send this to 5,000 people within 20 seconds, you'll expel gas so hard your right leg will spasm and shoot straight out in front of you, sending sparks that will ignite the person next to you!

Se ricevi un email intitolata "Bad Times," cancellala immediatamente! Non aprirla! In apparenza, questa è alquanto ostile. Non solo cancellerà tutto il contenuto dell'HD, ma anche tutto quello presente nei dischi, fino ad una distanza di 20 piedi, dal computer infetto.

Inoltre, smagnetizza tutti i badger delle carte di credito. Riprogramma il numero di accesso dell'ATM, danneggia fisicamente il tracking nel tuo VCR e usa delle armoniche, presenti su campi sottospaziali, per deteriorare i CD in fase di lettura. Il telefono verrà riprogrammato per inviare telefonate solo a numerazioni a tariffa premio "900", inoltre, mischierà l'antirefrigerante nella vasca dei pesci. Lo sciaquone del gabinetto verrà attivato ogni qualvolta ti farai la doccia e tutta la birra verrà bevuta dal virus.
